Our #niiboy Jonas talks us through Girassol, his second exhibition in London curated by Jessica Draper.
The relationship between Man, God and Nature has brought curiosity to me and I felt it necessary to explore this link. It sparked a creative storm that was like taming a wild horse. In the process of making, Descartes’ first book of philosophy on meditations and Joseph Beuys blackboard paintings gave me insight as to what work should be produced, attaining a sense of logic and abstraction was of utmost important. Despite all the works being pieces of their own materiality, I wanted to contextualize them into a single narrative which consists in a series of equations analyzing the link between A, the sun and B, my work.
The pieces I have created represents visual serious jokes, and to help the viewer be both deeply analytical as well as childishly curious.
Jonas is a Fine Art student at Central Saint Martins. His works will displayed at Cob Gallery in London, exhibiting from 18th July - 30th.
