Arturo, a.k.a. dj Poundshop gives us an insight on his music as the date of his first release is approaching.
I would say my passion for making music started when I first approached making beats on garage band at the age of 8. I would just be messing around with loops, and it all came from there. My dad taught me the basis and I eventually developed my own taste. As now, when I make music I try to recreate the feeling I get from sounds I hear in songs I like: I sit down and I really listen carefully to what kind of sounds the producer created on the track then I would emulate the feeling these sounds give me through experimental sounds for my own tracks. I also keep an eye on what’s new on the music scene. I am always on the look for fresh sounds, new musical backgrounds and new styles to explore, as well as different ways of approaching music.
This summer I am going to have my first release with a label called Tobago Tracks. I would describe my two songs “6Wings” and “Fields” as electronic, although there’s more to them than a mere genre label. I explored London’s music scene and how so many different music genres came to life in such a unique melting pot of musical traditions. I want my music to speak to my listeners on a deeper level, to having something to do with what came before but having an entirely different function.
